Vineet Thakur is University Lecturer in International Relations at the Institute for History, Leiden University, and, currently a fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Studies, Amsterdam. Previously, he has held positions in Ambedkar University (Delhi), University of Johannesburg (South Africa) and SOAS (UK). His research interests are in postcolonial approaches to world politics, IR’s disciplinary history, and diplomatic histories of India and South Africa. He has authored Postscripts on Independence: Foreign Policy Discourses in India and South Africa (Oxford University Press, 2018) and Jan Smuts and the Indian Question (University of KwaZulu Natal Press, 2017). He has also co-authored two forthcoming books: South Africa, Race and the Making of International Relations, (with Peter Vale for Rowman and Littlefield), and Race and International Relations at the Imperial Frontier (with Alexander Davis and Peter Vale for Pluto Press). His most recent journal publications are in The International History Review, Millennium, International Political Sociology, The Journal of Imperial and Commonwealth History, South Asia: Journal of South Asia Studies, among others.
