Call for new members

The Early Career Development (ECD) group of the EISA is looking for three new members to join the already existing group. The position is for a two-year term, on a voluntary basis.

The new members will contribute to the activities of the group, namely the organization of online and offline events, including during the Pan-European Conference on International Relations; the communication & public relations headed towards early career scholars; organization of internal communication flow of the group; and the development of new projects and ideas that contribute to more opportunities of career development for early career scholars; as well as the construction of a dynamic, inclusive and living network.

Eligibility

The group’s composition takes into account diversity in terms of countries, regions and university systems in and beyond Europe (broadly defined). Eligible candidates are EISA members who self-identify as early career scholars (up to 6 years after PhD award), including PhD fellows, postdocs, and those starting out in Lectureship positions or similar.

Selecting criteria

  1. Demonstrable commitment to the ECD cause and to the group’s activities;
  2. Career experience and academic achievements pertaining to early career development;
  3. Expected impact on ECD group composition, including its diversity (geographic, ethnic, gender, other) and possession of specific skills currently needed by the group;
  4. Availability to participate in the monthly meetings and to actively engage in the organization of activities;
  5. Career stage (at least one third of the ECD group members must be PhD students).

Instruction for applicants

The application should include the following documents:

    • Short CV (up to 2 pages);
    • Letter of intent (1 page) indicating the prospected contributions to the group.

The recruitment committee will shortlist candidates who meet the selecting criteria. Those will be invited to participate in an online interview by the end of March 2026.

The chosen applicants are expected to initiate their mandates during the EISA PEC 2026 (1-4 September 2026 in Lisbon)
