The Best Dissertation Award recognizes outstanding work by young scholars in
the field of International Relations. It is awarded to dissertations that make a highly original and significant contribution to International Relations based on rigorous research.
NOMINATIONS CLOSED
ELIGIBILITY

- the dissertation must be written in English
- It must have been defended between 1 January and 31 December 2025.
- The author must be a current EISA member.
PRIZE

An invitation to discuss the PhD with the Voices in International Relations Series Editors and to submit the revised manuscript to the series for consideration.

The published book will be advertised as the winner of the EISA Best Dissertation Award.

A formal presentation of the award at the annual EISA Conference.

An invitation to the Section Chairs’ Dinner at the annual EISA PEC Conference.

Free EISA PEC conference registration and one year’s complimentary EISA membership.

NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS
Nominations must be jointly submitted by the supervisor and one external member of the examination committee and should include:

A one-page description and justification outlining the originality, significance, and rigour of the dissertation.

Contact details of both sponsors and nominee.

An electronic copy of the dissertation (PDF or DOCX).

The award winner will be announced by mid-July 2026.
