Thank You Note

Dear EWIS 2019 participants,

The summer of 2019 is in full swing and the European Workshops in International Studies in sweltering Kraków now successfully behind us. On behalf of the EISA, I would like to thank our wonderfully welcoming hosts at the Jagiellonian University, workshop convenors and last not least all workshoppers for this magnificent academic fest in the beautiful gem of Małopolska.

With 25 workshops and 330+ participants we hit just the right balance between a great academic conference – with a chance to meet old friends and make new ones – and the distinct vibe of parallel intellectual hives getting palpably cracking. Our special thanks to the speakers of EWIS 2019 opening plenaries who set the tone for musing about the next hundred years of International Relations with their stimulating past-canvassing and forward-looking insights.

I hope EWIS 2019 reconnected you with the excitement of collaboration and the joy of writing. May the said joy – of which the Krakowian poet Wisława Szymborska

wrote about in her aptly titled 1967 collection ‘No End of Fun’– carry us all on to the next EWIS. We hope you enjoyed the overall conference, your workshop experience and the city of Kraków – and look very much forward to welcoming you in Brussels for EWIS 2020 next summer.

With thanks and appreciation,

Maria Mälksoo,

on behalf of the EWIS 2019 organisers
