European Party Politics: Transforming Equality and Democracy

Equality, democracy, and party politics are at the heart of the challenges facing Europe today. This workshop seeks to understand how – particularly in the context of the European Union and its Parliament. Covering the transformations in party politics, political groups, and democratic practices the invited speakers address the impact of economic crises, the rise of populism and Euroscepticism, Brexit, and assess the fate of advancing equalities, democracy and justice in such shifting political contexts.

The workshop is organised by the ERC-funded research project EUGenDem, Gender Studies, Tampere University, and the European Union Research Programme of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA), Helsinki.
